Membership Stories and Testimonies
Lucille Lecher
Background
I grew up in the United Church in Lethbridge, Alberta. I sang in the choir and was very involved with the young people. Early on in life I went into nursing with my first job at Vancouver General Hospital. While in Vancouver I was involved in some of the United Churches there. Later I moved to Williams Lake where I continued in nursing in one of the camps there. From there I went to Dawson Creek and sometime around there I wasn’t very involved in church for a while. Fast forward a few years and I got married and had children. |
Life eventually brought me to Prince George where I attended a few churches. There ended up being some problems in the churches I attended and so I ended up not being involved with church for several years. Then one night my son Rod came home one night and said that his family had been to the Christmas Dinner and Concert and that I should come to church and hear the music. I have been here ever since.
Why I became a member
Since I’ve become a part of this church I’ve had some great conversations with people that have just made it feel like home. I’ve made some great friendships! I also feel that the preaching is concise and to the point, which makes after church review so easy.
A few weeks before the membership class I was thinking “I should become a member”. That Sunday, I looked at the bulletin and noticed that membership classes were happening so I signed up, attended the classes and am now a member of OFCC.

Diane Davis
Background
I was raised in the Anglican Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Christ was with me as a child and I experience several instances where my life was spared, even though I wasn’t very involved with church for those years. In 1962, when I was 18, I came to Prince George. I met a Pentecostal man and married him shortly thereafter, but knew very little about Christianity and wasn’t a born-again believer. In 1967, when my daughter was 4 years old I answered an altar call after realizing that I was hungry for Christ. I was baptized by Arlo Johnston in approximately 1981 at the Prince George Pentecostal Tabernacle. |
Then things went south, I got rebellious and dropped out of church entirely. My life remained very empty for several years. I knew the Lord wanted me to be a part of a church family, but couldn’t forgive myself for the years of rebellion. In the year 2012, I was just recuperating from open heart surgery.
Why I Became a Member
The doctors had given me 4 days to live. I met Bonnie and as we talked she invited me to church and I said “maybe, when I’m ready”. She kept on asking me to drive her to church, and about November of 2012 I realized it was time to come. I opened the doors of this little church and whether it was hugs or people saying, “God Bless You”, all I felt was love from the people here. I knew that I had found my way home. The day that I answered an altar call, and I was the only one there at the altar, Pastor and the elders surrounded me to pray over me. He prayed a prayer of healing over me and I felt something that I have never felt in my entire life. Now every time I go to the doctor I know that I am healed by His stripes. I believe it and receive it, and here I am! I volunteered with the life centre in the past and do what I can to help with baking and cooking. I am so excited to be a member of my OFC church family.

Chris Schacke
Background
I became a Christian in 1998 when I was 18 years old. Thanks to some high school friends attending a local youth group in Prince George, I started to go with them. I soon became friends with many of the youth from that church and their families. I craved that interaction with families where both parents were still married. Mine were not and I missed having that unity in a family. I vividly remember the many times I was invited to join those families for a meal and soaked in the love and joy of that environment. |
I soon realized the environment and source of that love was Jesus, and wanted to have that same relationship and hope that my friends and their families had.
I met my wife, Erin in 2002, and was married in 2005. She challenged my conservative background where the active miracles, healings and wonders Jesus demonstrated are still available. We went on a mission trip to Malawi Africa, and the demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s power was evident in the testimonies of the local people and how God had healed them. From that point on I too desired to be a part of a Church that actively pursued the Holy Spirit and that power. It took years but in 2015, we arrived at Overcoming Faith Christian Centre and the first day we came, Erin and I both new this was home.
Why I became a member
I became a member, because I believe in the mission and leadership of OFCC and want to surrender and be a part of it. We are excited to arrive at a place to call home and see our young children grow up in an environment that encourages and challenges us to be more like Jesus.
My wife also received a healing at OFCC during a Sunday worship service and I am overjoyed by God’s love and goodness. I also appreciate the succession of leadership because of the strong mentorship that goes on in OFCC. Rather than hiring from outside, which is a more common model in most Church’s, Pastor and leadership needs in OFCC are being fulfilled internally. I appreciate the people and the friendships at OFCC and look forward to the opportunities of serving the community and building each other up in Christ.

Casey Primus
Background
I have been a part of Overcoming Faith Christian Centre since I was born. When I was a child, we were in a couple different rented locations. First on Lyon street in a leased warehouse. Eventually we moved to Westside Family Fellowship, where we rented their church on Saturday and Wednesday nights. In my teenage years, I was heavily involved in church (mostly in the area of music and sound). |
After finishing high school, I went to Saskatoon where I attended Faith College and Rejoice School of Music for a period of two years. Here I learned a lot, grew deeper in my relationship with God and increased both in ability and passion for music. Once my two years were finished, I came home and immediately rejoined our worship team (which at the time consisted largely of my family members). Fast forward to now and I am not only a member of this body, but on staff as the Church Coordinator.
Why I became a member
This has been my home for as long as I can remember. I became a member shortly after becoming an adult because I was ready to commit myself on paper to this body of believers. I truly believe that God has planted me in this body, and I have no intention of uprooting myself. This is home.
